Here are my game-by-game NCAA bracket picks, one by one (and not displayed by just filling out the bracket and posting it) because it just never comes out right when I try anything else.

Though this isn't right, either, of course. But any other way just takes too much time and more energy than my paper and I have currently.

Mostly, I'm posting this to get a record of the first two rounds and to see how awful I can be in public. I will update this if it's relevant once they get to the Sweet 16.

To the picks...

As I wrote Sunday, this year I am picking Duke, the 2 seed in the East, to win the whole thing.

(History of my national-title picks since 2001 later in this item. It's not great.)

Also, as usual I went heavy with the 12-5 upsets, probably went way too far with Butler and Creighton, and couldn't pull the trigger on Northwestern over Gonzaga. Let's see how it turns out.

* My first-round selections (upsets in ital)...

---EAST/

-SOUTH/

1 North Carolina over 8 Arkansas.

2 Kentucky over 10 Wichita State.

*** My Elite Eight:

-East/

2 Duke over 6 SMU.

-West/

1 Gonzaga over 12 Princeton.

2 Arizona over 3 Florida State.

-Midwest/

1 Kansas over 5 Iowa State.

6 Creighton over 7 Michigan.

-South/

*** My Final Four/

Then... Duke over Arizona, Kentucky over Kansas.
And that gets me to Duke over Kentucky for the national title.
